In modern day times, the amount of people tapping into the internet to learn how to make money online is growing. The number one place where people look to first is Ebay, but to generate true profits there are some proven simple strategies to follow.
Firstly, what is it that you want to sell? Your own stuff? Clothes, books, records, furniture etc etc. Or are you buying to resell? Just be rest-assured that it will sell, after all your junk may be another person’s treasure. Whatever it is that you decide these 6 tips will help to make sure you turn your items into the most cash possible.
1. Your first aim should be to build a good reputation as a seller. To do this easily, make sure to write accurate descriptions of the item your selling and also take a good picture. Include any flaws, how old the item is and how much it has been used.
2. Don’t overcharge on your postage costs and sellers fees. People will know if you have and you can be sure they will let you know. This was common practice when Ebay first arrived but is vastly being phased out with the use of online postage calculators and other related tools.
3. Save reserves for larger ticket items such as large consumer electrical goods, cars and bikes. A recent Ebay report suggested that people were actually put off bidding when a reserve was including in the item listing as they often found it fruitless and a waste of their team.
4. Buyers will often pay more for an item if the seller offers a no questions asked 14 day return policy, regardless of whether the item will actually cost more. Don’t worry, however, as long as you have described it honestly the returns you receive back will extremely low or even non-existent.
5. Pay close attention to what time your listing ends, because if it’s 10.30pm on a Friday night will there be a number of buyers likely to be on the Internet to bid? I don’t think so, but one lucky person will be to get a bargain and to make a large dent in your profits; Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings have proven to be the best.
6. Take anything you can get for your “Junk” and start bids at 0.99 cents/pence as it will create great interest and you also get the listing for free.
Treating selling on Ebay like a well drilled machine is key to making the the money your looking for. Making a schedule to follow of your time to spend listing, packing and posting will help you generate a weekly income, but ultimately you need to make a decision on whether the money you’re making is a good return for the time your investing.
